Hello! My name is Alexandra and I am from Los Angeles, California. I live in Florence, Italy and I have 10+ years of experience teaching students from all over the world in both private lessons and group lessons. I've worked as a private teacher and at a school in Florence, Italy. My hobbies are cooking, traveling & learning about new things. I am a personable teacher and I love to get to know each student and their needs and wants with English. I am a creative person so I use my creativity in teaching and use a variety of materials to teach. I start by developing a good rapport with each student because it is important for the lessons to feel like a very safe and comfortable place for me and the student. I listen to each student's needs and desires in English, assess level, and make an appropriate plan for them. Bachelor’s - Double Major: Liberal Studies & PsychologyMy Liberal Studies degree was mostly focused on general subjects (from math, science, history & human sciences) taught in school and how to teach them. My Psychology degree covered General Psychology, Biopsychology, Child & Adolescent Development, Sensation & Perception, etc.

Private English TeacherI offered private and small group lessons to students of all ages (from toddler to 60 years old) out of my home. I had General English, Business English & Test-Prep students. This helped me integrate into the community, to form good working relationships with students and parents, utilize my creativity, & adapt to students of all different ages and English needs.
2015 - 2020
English TeacherI taught children, teenagers and adults General English, Business English & Test Preparation (TOEFL, TOEIC, First, SAT English). I was responsible for private lessons and group lessons. In my private lessons, I was responsible for conducting a thorough needs analysis with each student and creating an individual syllabi tailored to that student's needs and desires for learning English. In group lessons, I was responsible for covering a set number of topics and concepts.
2015 - 2020
CTEFL TrainerIn this school I held 2 positions: English Teacher and CTEFL Trainer. As a CTEFL Trainer I was responsible for training people who wanted to earn a CTEFL Certificate with Via Lingua. We held about 10 1-month 120-hour courses per year and I was responsible for teaching Pedagogy and observing teaching sessions with the trainees where they taught to real students. Following these observations, I conducted post-teaching conferences. I also conducted much of the administrative work and grading.
2020 - 2022
English TeacherI have been teaching Italki since May, 2020. I am proud of my ratio of students to lessons and have met some incredible people all over the world!

All lessons with Alexandra have a number of parts - from recent personal news discussion to review of articles/grammar rules and making exercises on them. Transition between the parts is very natural and unnoticeable, so it comes about that the content of an article ensues from the conversation we've hold. Alexandra always suggests inspiring topics to discuss and manages agenda of a lesson in a very balanced way - we allocate time on discussion of casual life (which is good for fluency) and review topics from textbooks and/or online resources of various kinds (which broadens mind and gives new insights).
