He focuses on helping you understand the IELTS assessment criteria, and as a former examiner, he has so much knowledge to share with students and contribute to their preparation. The lessons are at the same time well-structured and relaxed. I tend to get very nervous when speaking, but he was able to create a very comfortable environment throughout the lessons. His writing tutoring was simply amazing and helped me improve dramatically. I just received my IELTS results, and not only did I achieve the scores I needed, but they also exceeded my expectations! I got a 7.5 after 6 classes with Joe! He focused on how to pass the exam and maximize the score instead of English language itself. As a result, you can see a big leap in just several days! I could not achieve what I got without his instructions, such as discourse markers, complex sentences and so many other magics. Joe did give useful feedback, something I barely heard from other IELTS teachers or examiners. However, the issue was that he focused too much on his own theory, which sometimes even contradicted what I have heard from other examiners or teachers. His perspectives can serve as a helpful supplementary resource and bring in fresh angles, but I would not recommend treating his scoring and personal theories as the only fact. I also want to address the fact that I yelled at the end of the session. I joined this class as a test taker, not as a teacher delivering lessons to students. I am not obligated to maintain a gentle attitude toward everyone at all times.
