Hello, everyone! I am Elena. I am from Guangzhou, a city in south China.
My Chinese name is Jiaxian; I am a native speaker of Mandarin and Cantonese.
I have been working as a language school teacher in Mandarin, Cantonese, and English for over five years. I mainly teach international students. In the classroom, I teach the language and share cultural and historical knowledge.ฉันในฐานะผู้สอน
I already have 7 years of experience in online teaching, with certification to teach Chinese and English to adults and children. Also, I have completed IELTS teacher training courses with a certificate.
When I was in New Zealand for a working holiday a few years ago, I realized that learning their language is always the best way to know more about different cultures. That's why I want to help people who learn about the Chinese language and culture. Today we talked about our day, which gave me lots of opportunities to talk about many things since one thing led to another. Whenever I didn't know a word, I would ask, and my teacher would let me know the word, and tell me how to pronounce it.

We reviewed the lesson from last week as well as new material on the same topic. Was very thorough in explaining things I wasn't sure of. She also asked my questions to back up what we just talked about, and went through exercises.

We talked about our weekends, which gave me lots of opportunities to talk a lot. Then we moved on to the reading materials, which helped me practice other scenarios. Whenever I didn't know a word, my teacher would let me know and write it down for me to practice. Her teaching style is great!

I had a trial lesson with Elena, and she seemed inattentive to my needs. She didn’t even ask my name or assess my current language level, and I felt like I was the one directing the lesson instead of her. She didn’t take into account my abilities, asking questions that were too difficult for me to answer. Overall, I felt lost during the lesson and there didn’t seem to be a clear plan for what we would be learning.
