Beginners with Genki 1 & Genki 2 are welcome. I was born and raised in Kobe, Japan. Now, I am residing in Tokyo. In 2019, I transitioned from my day job to become a full time Japanese language teacher. In University, I had dreams of living abroad, and so I finally fulfilled my goal at the age of 38. I moved to Los Angeles, California, with my family and lived there for 5 years. I have fond memories of that time. My hobbies include: fishing, watching boxing and martial arts, learning new magic tricks, and traveling. Beginners with Genki 1 & Genki 2 are welcome. As I reflect back on the various occupations I’ve had, I see a common ground in all of them; a teacher. I have taught English in Prep Schools, I was a Christian Pastor teaching the Bible in churches, I was a communication skills trainer at the mentally handicapped training center and now I am a Japanese language teacher for foreigners and missionaries. The greatest joy as a teacher is to share the moment with the student when the unknown becomes known and understood. There is joy in understanding intellectually with the mind, as well as the excitement of understanding with the heart. I teach with Genki 1 for beginners and Genki 2. Beginners with Genki 1 & Genki 2 are welcome. As a language teacher I have found real satisfaction when my students tell me, “I was able to communicate my thoughts and feelings to the other person and they understood”, that brings the greatest satisfaction to the student and the teacher. Yasu sensei does a great job of providing structure and resources for his lessons while also allowing flexibility for the conversation to go off topic when it is helpful.

Yasu sensei is a great teacher. I always enjoy our classes, and I appreciate that he provides dictation exercises as homework. It helps improve my listening comprehension.

I had an enjoyable first lesson with Yasu Sensei. His teaching style is friendly and thoughtful, and he helped me identify the areas in which I can improve since I wasn't sure, myself. I'm already looking forward to the next lesson!
