João Bettencourt

I’m very happy with my classes with João. His guidance helped me make a big jump in my Portuguese at the beginning. Over the following 3 months, the progress was slower but consistent, and recently I reached another level thanks to his support. Now, at mid A2 level, I can talk about ideas that come to my mind, not only beginner-safe topics.

With João I have classes focused on Grammar and on Conversation. He uses many different resources, such as ebooks and articles, and is always well prepared. We do grammar exercises, read articles and talk about many different topics together so that I can learn new vocabulary easily. João is always encouraging and creates a safe environment so that it's easy for me to speak Portuguese. Obrigada João!

Very Friendly and Patient

João has been my tutor for quite some time now. I'm very grateful to have him as my teacher. Although I still make some mistakes ( and sometimes the same mistakes 🙃🤭), he is always very patient and supportive. Definitely please pick him as your tutor!!!

I like the topics he chooses. He challenges me with follow up questions and he allows me to relate my life experiences to the lessons.

João has been helping me close the gap between understanding Portuguese and responding confidently in real time, especially when stress slows down how quickly meaning registers. His lessons are patient and focused.
