I have been a full-time Vietnamese tutor for the past few years. Through my journey of learning foreign languages on my own, I have gained a deeper understanding of students' needs. Apart from languages, I also enjoy creating vlogs and conducting Hanoi tours. This explains why I strive to make every class more than just a lesson, but also a cultural exploration. To bring my students the best classes, I have to read extensively and prepare engaging and informative lessons, particularly for students who have little knowledge of the language and culture they have chosen to study. I always make sure to incorporate cultural information alongside language learning, as I believe it is important to give my students a comprehensive understanding of the country and its people.

My teaching approach is unique and tailored to my students' backgrounds, so you won't find my lessons to be the same as those of other teachers or textbooks. I like to start by introducing new words and phrases with simple Vietnamese examples and engaging illustrations, allowing students to guess the meaning of words rather than relying on translations. I also create a variety of materials, including colourful illustrated lessons and interesting reading exercises.

I’m so happy to be moving up to intermediate-level Vietnamese with Cô Dương 🥳 My first lesson of the new year was such a great start—we learned more about the Vietnamese Lunar New Year, Tết! I picked up lots of new vocabulary and discovered so many interesting things. I’m excited to keep improving!

Great lesson with Shinegi! We practiced creating sentences using some vocabulary words like mới, thoải mái, khó chịu and others. We also worked on pronunciation for dipthongs like au and ao. I'm glad that Shinegi is working with me on pronunciation, she's helping me a lot!

Duong is a good teacher and is patient with me. And takes time to explain things. She gives me exercises for homework. This can be listening exercises or writing a short text. She puts class notes in a google doc for my later reference. She also has created a document with slides with pictures to explain words.
Sometimes uses Youtube or Google images to explanation as well. Good teacher!

Great lesson with Shinegi! We learned and practiced adjectives and their opposite. Shinegi paid special attention to spelling and pronunciation. Shinegi varies her lessons each time so it is always new and interesting!

Great lesson with Shinegi! We worked on different exercises, including creating a sample conversation. Shinegi checked my spelling and pronunciation, which helped me to improve. Shinegi does a good job of slowing down when needed and making sure that I understand!
