(UCLA grad!), I now call Idaho home—though I’ll never stop missing California sunshine! My time living in Costa Rica deepened my love for connecting with people worldwide, especially over *food* (ask me about gallo pinto!) and *travel*. As a language learner myself (German B1), I get the struggles—and the power of laughter in learning. I have been teaching for over 20 years, but did not receive my TEFL certification until 2016. I began out teaching in person, but started teaching online in 2016 when I first joined italki. I left italki for a while because I was living abroad and did not have a stable internet connection, but I continued teaching English in person. As a teacher, I understand the challenges you face because I am learning another language, too. I can relate to your concerns and fears about speaking another language. I think it's important to talk about the things that interest YOU. This is why I offer a variety of classes, including a literature class and a "virtual coffeehouse" practice session. I felt really comfortable when I had a class with Kelly teacher. When I had questions her answers were so perfect as well. I would love to keep having classes with Kelly so I actually booked another session. I'm really looking forward to studying again with Kelly teacher!!

Kelly is one of the best teachers of English one could ever hope to engage. I did not hire her to provide me with instruction in English since I am myself a native speaker, but rather as a literary consultant. I wanted her to offer me guidance on which books to read and critical evaluations of specific passages and texts. This would have necessitated that she be far more proficient in English than the run-of-the-mill English teacher, but I can attest that she met and exceeded my expectations.
