Hi, guys! My name is Izumi. I'm from Kumamoto, Japan.
I love:
- Cooking...I'm a foodie and I love trying new recipes from all over the world. I'd love to learn if you have a special recipe to share with me! ;)
- Reading...I love reading both in Japanese and in English!
- Dancing...Swing dance (esp. Lindy Hop!) is my passion!
- Anime... These Covid days got me hooked into Anime! My recent favorites are Demon Slayer, Jujutsu Kaisen, and My Hero Academia. Yep, I'm a newb. So, come to my lesson and educate me with your favorite anime/manga!

I studied Japanese language education and linguistics both in college and grad school, and I have been a professional Japanese teacher for 10 years+. I used to teach in Oklahoma, USA and in Monterrey, Mexico.
I have taught people from diverse backgrounds such as exchange students, businesspersons, homemakers, high school students, and college students. So, I can customize my curriculum to meet your specific needs. I can also explain confusing and complicated grammar/vocabulary well!
私は大学と大学院で日本語教育と言語学を勉強して、もう10年くらい日本語を教えています。アメリカとメキシコでも教えていました。

I will encourage you to speak as much in Japanese as possible during my lessons, but we can always switch to English if you want!
My beginner/intermediate grammar&vocab lessons are based on "Dekiru Nihongo" but you don't need to have the textbook. I will also use various other textbooks and my original materials depending on the lesson options.

I highly recommend Izumi's class! Her teaching style works the best for how I learn with very engaging material from a unique textbook. I feel like I've learned and improved exponentially since I started lessons with her. She is very encouraging and conversations are always a lot of fun. A phenomenal teacher! I reached out to Izumi to help supplement gaps in my full-time Japanese classes and she's an absolute delight. Insightful and funny, plus is able to seamlessly switch between English and Japanese to explain finer points that can get lost in immersion. She was also kind and flexible enough to schedule special sessions to help cram before my tests (which I passed easily thanks to her help). Would recommend without hesitation.
