I’m Eri, a native Japanese speaker from Kobe, Japan, currently living in the UK. I’ve also lived in Australia and Canada, and travelled to over 25 countries, which helps me connect Japanese culture with a global perspective.
I enjoy reading, watching films, camping, and walking in nature. I speak standard Japanese, but I can also teach Kansai dialect, full of humour and warmth. I keep lessons relaxed and fun, helping you learn by talking, laughing, and making mistakes:)ฉันในฐานะผู้สอน
This year marks my 4th year teaching Japanese on italki. Many of my students have described me as kind, patient, friendly, and easy to understand. I’m also fortunate to have several long-term students.
For beginners, I use English to assist in understanding, but for intermediate and advanced learners, I primarily teach in Japanese, switching to English only when necessary. Having learned multiple languages myself, I understand firsthand the challenges of language acquisition. So don't worry about making mistakes. My teaching style is focused on conversation however I use some textbooks (Genki & Irodori) for the beginners to practice basic Japanese phrases and grammar.
●For the beginners: We will start off with basic everyday phrases, Hiragana & Katakana, pronunciation and vocabulary.
●For the intermediate and advanced level : We will choose a topic to talk about and then review the grammar or new vocabulary.

I just finished my first conversation lesson with Eri Sensei. I also did a trial lesson with her before this. Both lessons were excellent. Eri Sensei is very patient, understanding and kind. She is also very detail-oriented and diligent. She clarified all my doubts and made sure I understood everything. After the end of each lesson, she also sends a doc which has all sentences we discussed which is a big plus. Looking forward to more lessons with Eri Sensei.

Eri-sensei is always very kind and patient in her lessons and will guide you to an answer instead of telling you it outright, which is always a great and rewarding way to learn. She writes plenty of notes to study during the lesson which I always really appreciate and look back on. She is very encouraging and never makes me feel nervous to use the language or back away from challenges I may face in Japanese. Please, book her lessons!!

Eri has helped me after not practicing Japanese for a few months. She encouraged me with materials which were tailored to my specific needs and I left the lesson feeling more confident in my speaking ability. What's more, Eri provided me with materials for my own self study. I instantly feel better and want to learn more when I take lessons with Eri.
