Ahoj, čau! Vítám tě! Thank you for czechin' me out! I am native Czech speaker with over 3k lessons taught on Italki. I have a bachelor's degree in law and 7 years of hands-on experience in teaching and learning languages. Being a former Czech Ice hockey player and a student of Czech criminal Law with a great love for Czech history and culture I will make you fall in love with this incredibly interesting language, our culture and history and maybe I'll share some tips on how to properly wear socks with sandals as a proper Czech!

I helped more than 300 students learn Czech, gain fluency and self-confidence to freely communicate with Czechs. I am a compassionate teacher with a great cultural awareness, who remains sensitive to student’s unique needs, cultivates a love for learning, integrates multicultural teaching units, offers a positive encouragement and reinforcement to keep students motivated. Hezky česky..jsem trpělivý, zábavný učitel, který nabízí lekce vytvořené individuálně pro tebe! Snažím se zprostředkovávat radost z učení a pomoct ti na tvé cestě k plynulému mluvení v českém jazyce.

In my lessons, I go by the motto “learning through play” so don’t expect any dull moments! All my lessons are tailored personally for you, depending on your needs, interests and preferences. We will focus mainly on conversation, which from my experience is the best way how to master a language, but we will also focus on grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. If you have no knowledge of Czech language, don’t worry we will start at the very basics. If you decide to book a lesson, please send me a brief introduction, so we can quicker get to know where you are, where you want to be and how to get you there! Připraveni? Pojďme na to!

I'm a pharmacist from the UK who moved to the Czech Republic to study a PhD. Matěj is an excellent teacher who in a short space of time has taken me from zero Czech to being able to understand native speakers and have conversations with them, which is something I never thought would be possible. As someone who has unsuccessfully tried to learn many languages in the past and especially struggled in high school with them, I have found Matěj's unique, interactive lesson structure really effective for me and I was able to learn more than I have ever learnt before.
