I give John my highest recommendation for Mandarin lessons! Every session he continues to impress with his customized learning materials and highly effective teaching methods. He gets into specific ways to improve pronunciation and really provides key phrases that I will use in real-life situations. I look forward to our lessons each week and recently renewed for an additional package!

I wanted to be lazy and just listen to John talk this lesson but he wanted me to remember words and repeat things back to him, which made the lesson worth the time because I actually was remembering words. And when I had questions, he always provided more information and cleared up my confusion. He's always a great teacher, even when I'm tired or ornery.

It was great to see examples of how the vowels are used in common words. I especially struggled with e'y and e'i, but John showed me the difference and now I finally understand how these make different sounds and how to spell the words I was having trouble with.

John does a great job of helping me learn how to pronounce the Yakut vowel sounds! And I like that he uses more than one source for study. We used a guide he had prepared and videos if native speakers. I'm excited to keep learning!
