Yulia is by far the best Comprehensive Input based Russian teacher I've found on italki. She's very adaptable to your level, good with working with total beginners, and super friendly. Classes with her are always a ton of fun, and I've made a ton of progress in only a month!

This lesson ran at a very good pace. When I look confused or show any sign of uncertainty, Yulia checks in to ensure that I understand what's being talked about. I am so surprised by how much I am acquiring in classes purely in Russian. It really does feel like I am acquiring the language quickly and the natural way as opposed to spending hours studying grammar books and getting nowhere. I feel as if my brain is automatically identifying and applying grammar the more it is exposed to the language, which is something I never thought I would ever say... But there it is haha. She makes the lessons fun, interesting and relevant to my goals. I am seeing more results in the 6 Natural Approach: Comprehensible Lessons that I have had with her than my 2 years of Russian self-study, which speaks volumes to me. I'd highly recommend Yulia whether you're a beginner, at an intermediate or advanced level - regardless, I'm confident she'll know how to improve your Russian :)

Yulia is one of a kind—quite literally. There may be other teachers on italki who offer some type of comprehensible-Russian lessons. But if any such teachers exist, I certainly haven't found them. Yulia always has interesting visuals to accompany her stories, and she constantly fleshes out her meaning with hand-gestures, body movements, voice modulation, facial expressions, etc. She puts a tremendous amount of effort into each lesson. I personally find the "comprehensible input" approach very helpful, and what Yulia offers here is as good as or better than anything you'll find on italki, YouTube, or anywhere in between. It's evident that she cares about her students' success, and she always goes out of her way to make sure that she is tailoring her lessons to her students' needs and desires. She's simply superb. 💯

Practicing speaking Russian with Yulia has been FANTASTIC! I have had 8 lessons with her and have had some great conversations. She is incredibly patient, helpful, and fun to practice Russian with. During our classes, She doesn't correct every mistake I make but corrects my most common mistakes and mispronunciations. Our time together is very relaxed and she does a great job making it fun. I am really happy to have a knowledgeable and effective tutor to help me through the learning process!
