🇯🇵 How much Japanese can you create from just one photograph? I took this photograph at Nikko Toshogu, one of Japan’s most visually striking historical sites. When learning Japanese, it is easy to stop at: 「きれいです。」 “It’s beautiful.” That sentence is correct—but your thoughts probably don’t end there. Here are three different ways to describe the same photograph: 🌱 Beginner 「大きくて、きれいな建物です。金色の飾りがたくさんあります。」 It is a large, beautiful building with many golden decorations. 🌿 Intermediate 「細かい装飾がたくさんあり、とても華やかな印象を受けます。」 There are many intricate decorations, giving it a very ornate impression. 🌳 Advanced 「建物全体の豪華さだけでなく、細部まで施された装飾にも目を奪われます。」 Not only is the building magnificent as a whole, but the decorations in every detail are also captivating. Useful expressions: 「華やか」＝ gorgeous, colorful and splendid 「豪華絢爛（ごうかけんらん）」＝ extremely luxurious and magnificent 「目を奪われる」＝ to be captivated by what you see 「細部まで」＝ down to the smallest details Now it’s your turn: この写真を見て、最初に何が目に入りましたか？ どんな印象を受けましたか？ あなたの国にも、細部まで美しく装飾された歴史的建造物がありますか？ In my lessons, photographs like this become more than vocabulary exercises. You’ll practice observing, describing, comparing, expressing impressions and gradually turning a simple answer into a real Japanese conversation. You don’t need perfect Japanese. We start with the Japanese you already know and build from there. 📷

Today it is very hot outside, and I do not want to go out. I also have a part-time job today. It is Friday, so I think it will be busy. I will do my best and hope everything goes well. After work I want to go home and relax. I hope tomorrow is a little cooler than today again.

Today was a very busy day at my part-time job. There were many customers, so I had to keep moving and help them as quickly as possible. I was tired because I hardly had any time to take a break. Even though it was difficult, I was happy that I could finish all my work. I hope my next shift will be a little easier.

Today, I slept only 2 hours because I was preparing for my presentation. Last night, I was talking with my friend on the phone while working on it, and before I knew it, it was 4 a.m. However, I had to wake up at 6 a.m. today. I could sleep a little on the train. I also had a part-time job today, so I am even more tired. I want to go to bed early.

Today, I went to school and attended all of my classes. After school, I met my relatives for dinner. We enjoyed talking about our daily lives and shared many interesting stories. We had a delicious meal together, and I was happy to spend time with my family. After dinner, I went home and relaxed. It was a busy but enjoyable day, and I had a great time with my relatives.

Today, I gave a presentation in one of my classes. I was a little nervous before I started, but I did my best. I talked clearly and answered a few questions from my classmates. After the presentation, I felt relieved and happy because I finished it successfully. It was a good experience, and I think it helped me improve my speaking skills.
