今日は太陽系の惑星を、太陽に近い順番でご紹介します！
まず、いちばん太陽に近いのは、水星（すいせい）。 次は、暑くて分厚い雲に包まれた 金星（きんせい）。 そして、私たちが住んでいる 地球（ちきゅう）。 その隣には、赤い惑星の 火星（かせい）。
ここからは、ガスがたっぷりの大きな惑星たち。 大きなリングを持つ 木星（もくせい）。 美しい輪が特徴の 土星（どせい）。 横向きに回る 天王星（てんのうせい）。 いちばん遠くて青い 海王星（かいおうせい）。

水星、金星、地球、火星、木星、土星、天王星、海王星。
日本語では「すい・きん・ち・か・もく・ど・てん・かい」と覚えます！

あれから月日がたち、カンパネラが３０歳になったとき、帝国の極秘任務として『森』の地質調査をまかされました。調査隊は防護スーツに身をつつみ、高速エレベーターで5000メートル下へおりていきます。

調査隊員になっとたき、カンパネラは人類の進化の歴史をしりました。
700年まえ、人口の増加にともない、超高層ビルが立ちならびました。それでも人口においつかないため、ビルはどんどん高くなる一方でした。やがて、ビルの上層階どうしが蜘蛛の巣のようにつながっていき、あっというまに空中帝国が生まれました。

多くの人間は、進化したゆたかな生活をもとめ、空中帝国へとうつり住みましたが、一部の人間は『森』にのこり、『森』とともに生きる暮らしをえらびました。
空中帝国に住む人間と『森』に住む人間は、そのときにわかれてしまったのです。
