El Sombrerón es un personaje misterioso que aparece en los pueblos rurales de Colombia, especialmente en los Llanos Orientales. Se trata de un hombre alto, delgado y elegante, que siempre lleva un gran sombrero negro que cubre su rostro. Aparece por las noches montado en un caballo negro y es conocido por enamorar y engañar a mujeres jóvenes.

El Sombrerón las corteja con melodías de guitarra y dulces palabras, pero una vez que caen en su encanto, las jóvenes empiezan a enfermarse misteriosamente. Se debilitan cada día más, como si su energía fuera drenada por este extraño ser. La única manera de librarse de él es evitar el contacto visual con su sombrero o usar crucifijos y oraciones para alejarlo.
