Questions and Negatives: do, does, did and Wh- Questions | IELTS #012
Mô tả
Level A1 (approx. band below 3) · Academic and General Training
"Where you live?" "She not like coffee." "You are coming?" Listeners usually understand these sentences. But they are not correct standard English, and in the test they lower your grammar score. English questions and negatives need small helper words.
In this episode:
• Questions with be and can: change the order
• Do, does and did
• Wh- questions and your voice
• Short answers, negatives, and "you are coming?"
• Listening lab
• Language bridge
• Practice
• Self-check questions with answers
Key points:
• with be and can, move the helper verb to the front.
• no helper? Add do, does or did, then the base verb.
• wh- word, helper, subject, verb; yes or no goes up, wh- goes down.
• short answers use the helper, and negatives put "not" after the helper.
