孔融是汉朝有名的文学家，他六七岁的时候就聪明过人。许多有才学的大官出各种各样的难题考他，都没有把他难住。有一次，孔融参加了一个宴会。在宴会上，孔融机智地回答了几个人出的难题，受到在场官员的称赞。大家都说他长大后一定有出息。有一位大官见众人都捧这个六七岁的孩子，心里很不服气，便对大家说：“依我看，小时候聪明的人，长大以后不一定聪明。”孔融听了，马上接过话来，对他说：“我想，您小时候一定非常聪明。”
