今日（きょう）の言葉（ことば）は「さすが」です。
みなさんはこの言葉（ことば）を聞（き）いたことはありますか。

これは相手（あいて）を褒（ほ）めるときに使（つか）う言葉（ことば）です。
まず会話（かいわ）を2つ紹介（しょうかい）します。


1つ目（め）は私（わたし）と友達（ともだち）の田中（たなか）くんの会話（かいわ）です。

田中（たなか）くん、日曜日（にちようび）は何（なに）をしていたの?
サッカーの試合（しあい）があったんだ。僕（ぼく）はゴールを決（き）めたよ。
さすが田中（たなか）くん、この前（まえ）の試合（しあい）もゴールを決（き）めたよね。

これは、田中（たなか）くんならゴールを決（き）めると
そう思（おも）っていたよ、という気持（きも）ちを表（あらわ）します。

田中（たなか）くんがいつも練習（れんしゅう）していることを知（し）っているから
「さすが」を使（つか）いました。
言（い）われた田中（たなか）くんは嬉（うれ）しい気持（きも）ちになります。

2つ目（め）の会話（かいわ）です。私（わたし）は家族（かぞく）と家（いえ）でご飯（はん）を食（た）べています。
私（わたし）はお母（かあ）さんに言（い）います。

お母（かあ）さんこの唐揚（からあ）げおいしい！どこで買（か）ったの?
お母（かあ）さんが作（つく）ったんだよ。
え！さすがお母（かあ）さん。

私（わたし）はお母（かあ）さんは料理（りょうり）が上手（じょうず）だと知（し）っています。
だから「さすが」と言（い）ってお母（かあ）さんを褒（ほ）めました。


ところで「さすが」は「すごい」と似（に）ていますが少（すこ）し違（ちが）います。
「すごい」も「さすが」も相手（あいて）を褒（ほ）めるときに使（つか）います。
でも「すごい」は少（すこ）し驚（おどろ）いた気持（きも）ちを表（あらわ）します。

「さすが」は驚（おどろ）いた気持（きも）ちではなく、感（かん）心（こころ）する気持（きも）ちが強（つよ）いです。
ですから、あなたの実力（じつりょく）ならこれはできますよね、という信頼（しんらい）の気持（きも）ちが入（はい）っています。

そして言（い）われた人（ひと）は、自分（じぶん）の実力（じつりょく）を分（わ）かってくれているんだと、いう気持（きも）ちになるでしょう。


一（ひと）つだけ注意（ちゅうい）することがあります。
「さすが」は自分（じぶん）にはあまり使（つか）いません。
基本的（きほんてき）には他（ほか）の人（ひと）を褒（ほ）めるときに使（つか）ってください。

そして友達（ともだち）や家族（かぞく）など親（した）しい人（ひと）にも使（つか）えますし、
先輩（せんぱい）や上司（じょうし）といった目上（めうえ）の方（かた）にも使（つか）うことができます。
「さすが先輩（せんぱい）!」説明（せつめい）がとても分（わ）かりやすいです、ありがとうございます。
何（なに）かを教（おし）えてもらったときなど、このように使（つか）うこともできますよ。


今日（きょう）勉強（べんきょう）した言葉（ことば）は「さすが」でした。

皆（みな）さんの周（まわ）りに「さすが！」と言（い）いたくなる人（ひと）はいますか?
誰（だれ）かが何（なに）かをうまくできたとき「さすが」と言（い）って褒（ほ）めてみてください。

It’s Watt — not “Waa-to.”　わ and small つ, and と　ワット

This pronunciation is very important. Many students pronounce it without properly stopping the sound. Even if you don’t pronounce “Mr. Watt” perfectly, people can usually understand you. However, later on, you will encounter many similar words in the vocabulary, such as “kite,” “kitte,” “kaite,” and “katte.”

If you don’t handle this small tsu correctly, even Japanese people can often get confused.

Please try pronouncing it once: “Watt-san.”
Don’t forcefully stop your breath using your stomach, and don’t stop the air inside your mouth either. If you do, you’ll definitely end up saying “Waa-to-san” again. Use your throat, stomach, and nostril evenly. It’s “Watt-san.”

How to grow beans

Are You 'Happy-Go-Lucky?'
Is there someone in your life who is always happy? Or maybe someone who brings you a lot of joy? If so, here are some expressions you can use to describe them.

For example, some people call their baby a "bundle of joy." The expression probably comes from the practice of putting babies in blankets, which makes them look like a bundle.

So not long after you were born, your mother could have said to a friend, "Would you like to meet my little bundle of joy?"

A person who doesn't worry about things going wrong and lives their life in a relaxed and happy way can be described as "happy-go-lucky." The expression was first used in print in 1672, but back then it meant "whatever is going to happen will happen."

So if you were worried about your first day of school, your mother might have told you, "Just be your usual happy-go-lucky self, and you'll make lots of friends."

If someone is very happy, you can say they are "as happy as Larry," an expression that comes from either Australia or New Zealand. Some say it refers to Larry Foley, an Australian boxer from the late 19th century who never lost a fight. Others say it refers to the word "larrie" which meant "joke," or to "larrikins," — young men that caused trouble in Australian and New Zealand cities.

So if you came home from school smiling because you had a good time, your mother could have said, "You look as happy as Larry!"
