The cow was notoriously cheap, so it surprised everyone when she voted yes for the secret Santa
scheme. It was the horse’s suggestion, and she backed it immediately, saying, “I choose the turkey.” The pig, who considered himself an authority on all things gifty, cleared his throat. “That’s not actually the way it works,” he said. “It’s secret, see, so we each draw a name and keep it to ourselves until Christmas morning.” “Why do you always have to be like that?” the cow asked, and the duck sighed, “Here we go.” “First you ask me to give someone a Christmas present,” the cow continued, “and then you tell me it has to be done your way. Like, ‘Oh, I have four legs so I’m better than everyone else.’ ” “Don’t you have four legs?” the pig asked. The cow loosed something between a moan and a sigh. “All right, just because you have a curly tail,” she said.

Common Greek expressions and phrases that do not literally translate that well into English but are extremely common in Greece, especially in Millennial/ Gen Z audiences. Slang phrases are always informal and even though they are not negative in meaning you should never use them when speaking to an elder, a person like your boss, doctor, professor etc and in general with people you do not know.

Ich habe mit Absicht diese Geschichte sehr langsam vorgelesen, damit ihr die Aussprache mitverfolgen könnt. Hier ist die Geschichte im Text:

"Der Überraschungskuchen"

Es war ein sonniger Samstagmorgen, und Emily hatte Geburtstag. Sie wachte mit einem Lächeln auf, weil sie wusste, dass ihre besten Freunde, Mia und Lucas, zu ihrem Geburtstag kommen würden. Emily freute sich auf ihren Besuch und auf die gemeinsame Zeit, die sie verbringen würden.

Die Sonne schien hell, als Mia und Lucas endlich ankamen. Emily begrüßte sie mit einem breiten Lächeln an der Tür und umarmte sie herzlich. Sie wusste, dass sie einen tollen Tag zusammen haben würden.

Emily, Mia und Lucas verbrachten den Tag damit, lustige Spiele im Garten zu spielen. Sie tobten herum, spielten Verstecken und lachten über lustige Geschichten. Es war ein Tag voller Freude und Gelächter.

Nachdem sie draußen gespielt hatten, gingen sie ins Haus, um Emily's Geburtstagskuchen zu genießen. Als Emily die Kerzen ausblies und sich etwas wünschte, sangen Mia und Lucas fröhlich "Happy Birthday". Dann schnitten sie den Kuchen in Stücke und genossen jede köstliche Bissen.

Der Tag verging viel zu schnell, aber Emily war überglücklich. Sie fühlte sich so glücklich und dankbar, ihre besten Freunde an ihrem Geburtstag bei sich zu haben. Als Mia und Lucas sich schließlich verabschiedeten, versprachen sie, bald wiederzukommen, um mehr Abenteuer zu erleben.
