Working independently Some people like to work independently and enjoy more freedom, while others like to have a supervisor to tell them what to do. Which do you prefer? Why? Well, I definitely think working independently is more suitable for me. Let me elaborate my reasons. Firstly, working independently means that I can control the timeline of my work, which helps me to live a better life. To be more specific, I can choose not to work too late as long as I have made a rational plan before. Secondly, working independently leads to more deep thinkings, which is really helpful for me to find out my direction. For example, I used to work as a team leader of an automobile design project. After finishing this project, I summed up all my thoughts about it and choose to become a car designer. So, I do think working independently is quite helpful for me.

Wow, It’s really nice to receive your comments, Gergo. I do agree that sometimes people need advices and guidances from more professional people. In design theories, this method is called the expert interview. But I have to say that, this is not the only way to evaluate your work. Because sometimes, even a famous professor can be limited by his or her personal experience, but if he or she is your supervisor, it’s not easy to keep an interdependent thinking. So, I always reading related papers and do some experiments when I feel uncertain about my design, so that I can try to convince my clients. As to my supervisor, I think he is quite cautious about any certainty I concluded, so that I am getting used to prepare every details of my research before talking to him.

After I finished uni, I'd like to work in a place where there is someone to supervise me. I think it's better to have someone to ask if you're stuck with something, or to get advice from. If you work independently, I'm sure you can use more of your creativity, (and I know it depends on what your job is) but how can you be 100% sure that what you did is okay? You can be 99% sure, though, but if you have a supervisor, he can add that 1% to this, soooo yeah, it's more of a phsychological thing to me. :D

Well, I definitely think working independently is more suitable for me. Let me elaborate my reasons. Firstly, working independently means that I can control the timeline of my work, which helps me live a better life. To be more specific, I can choose not to work too late as long as I have a rational plan beforehand. Secondly, working independently allows me to develop deeper insight, which is really helpful for me to find out my future goal. For example, I used to work as a team leader of an automobile design. After finishing this project, I summed up all my thoughts about it and chose to become a car designer. Therefore, I do think that working independently is quite helpful for me.
