My homework - letter Dear Peter, Thanks for your letter. I'm glad to get it again. Sorry, I haven't written for so long . I have been busy with my studies. In your letter you asked me about excursion. I like excursion very much! It helps me to know something about new places, buildings, museums. I think, an excursion can spoil a guide, who speaks very quiet and not interesting. My last excursion, wich I visited, was 1 year ago. I went to the Peter and Paul fortress. It was so exciting. An excursion is to describe an 'outing' or a trip...we generally only use this word when going out as a group, for example with a school or university group. Maybe a better word would be simply 'a trip' or 'sightseeing' or 'travelling'. When using the word excursion, we say that we 'go on an excursion' or 'went on an excursion'.. you do not 'visit an excursion'- visit would be used as ..to visit a place, a city, a monument. :)
