The traditional APERITIVO in Italy The aperitivo is a traditional italian costume, that was created in the late Eighteenth century, in Turin, by an inventor who created the Vermouth, a flavored wine. During the centuries, this rite has been spread wide in the Country. It consists of drinking wine or other drinks, such as the famous "Spritz aperol", while eating appetizers and having chats and laughs. When italians finish their job, around 6-7 pm, they meet their friends or their coworkers in a bar to relax, after a long day of work. Nowadays, you can also do aperitivo before lunch. Bars have been more and more creative with appetizers: if you have good food, you'll order more drinks! Italians, as you know, are good hearty eaters so if you ever will visit Italy, you'll see everywhere people making aperitivo. Instead of always meeting each other at restaurants, this is a more relaxing and funnier way to chat with friends. In summer, it's better because you can be outside, facing the plaza of the city or being on a terrace looking at the sea or at a Tuscany hill. One thing I want to clarify: italians, yes, love good food but it's not enough. They don't do aperitivo and eat appetizers in order to fill their stomachs. The most important thing for an italian is the company. The food moment is just an opportunity to meet friends and family and have a great time!
