Introduction of myself Hi, My name is ZhouWei, I come from China, the city of Chengdu,Sichuan province, the home of the panda. I want to learn the English and I like it so much. The reasones why I want to learn it is that English is one of the most useful tools in today's world, especilly when lots of people can contect on the world web . But I think my English is a kind of Chinglish, not the real English, most of my sentences are just a kind of baby English. And I do not know how to talk with a foreign person and what do we can talk about. From my school, the teacher just taught us the foreigners like to talk about the weather, but I think it is queered. Oh, i just nearly forget that on the orther hand , I hoping I can meet some foreigners and to be the friends.

Getting Rid of Chinglish (How about this title?)

Hi, my name is Zhou Wei. 1. I am a Chinese. The city I live is Chengdu, Sichuan Province (South-West of China). The Province is home for Giant Pandas.

I want to learn 2. English and I like the language so much. The reason why I want to learn English is it is one of the most useful tools 3. for communication in the world, especially when lots of people can be connected by the World Wide Web .

I think my English is a kind of Chinglish, 4. incorrect English. I have to admit, I do not know how to talk with a foreign person and what we can talk about. My school teacher has told us that foreigners like to talk about the weather, but I think it is weird. Oh, 5. I have nearly forgotten to mention that I do hope to meet some friends from different countries on italki.

Dear Zhou Wei,

As you have requested I have done my share in the correction. Let me tell you that your English doesn't look like pure Chinglish. You are making progress and it is visible! Some points for you to remember:

1. I come across the phrase "I come from China" too often. I understand it is a cliche phrase you are being taught. You'd better say "I am from China." or "I am a Chinese." It is better English.

2. Never use "the" with the names of the languages: Russian, Chinese, English, French, German Korean etc.

3. You have to specify what kind of tool English is. I am afraid not the one for gardening... :) So "means of communication" or "tool for communication".

4. You don't need to expand so much the definition for Chinglish, in short it is incorrect variant of English influenced by Chinese.

5. Use Present Perfect in this case, as you have nearly forgotten to announce something and it has just happened now.

I don't like word "foreigner", better use friends from all over the world. It sounds more friendly.

Good luck with your studying! :)

Oh, i just nearly forget that on the orther hand , I hoping I can meet some foreigners and to be the friends.

Nicely written. The weather is a pretty boring topic, talking about the weather is simple and often shows we are uncomfortable with the converstation or person. Talk about your hobbies or interests, just don't ask about the price of Iphones in America. I personally love to ask people in China what their favorite dish is and how to cook it. 我爱中国菜
