The first thing You need to know when you are learning Bahasa Indonesia
Bahasa Indonesia in English is Indonesian. So, Indonesian in Bahasa Indonesia is Bahasa Indonesia not Bahasa. Bahasa means language. But, it will be wrong if you say Indonesian language, because Indonesian has already meant National language of Indonesia. Now, stop saying Bahasa. :)

I agree with you. Here in Malaysia some international students also call BM as 'bahasa'. Yes, we don't need to say the long form 'the Indonesian language'. Just use the simple word 'Indonesian' for the language.
