when do you say ahl (Ahl?) and when do you say az.

When do you say ahal and when do you say az? Because both words in english mean 'from'.
"ahl" is used just when you wanna mention where is your homwtown or where you belong to!
but "az" has a wide usage.
for example: " I'm from Iran" in persian you can say:
man Irani hastam. (the most common sentence)
man ahle Iran hastam,(ahle is used more to indicate your hometown or area or latitude you belong to):
but az is used just for very breif presentations, for example in military service we say:
man pouya ... az esfahan!
more examples :
I'm from the south(of Iran)
man ahle jonoobam or man jonoobiam or man bacheye joonobam(in informal persian,it means I'm the child of the south! word by word!)
I come from Iran: man az Iran miam (it's not usual to say in persian)
I'm pouya from Isfahan. man pouya hastam az esfahan.
ahl is also used to say you are interested in something or not:
man ahle moosighi hastam, I'm up to the music! I'm addicted to the music!
man ahle dood nistam, smoking doesn't agree with me! I'm not into smoking!
