Με λένε Τζέσικα
I have no idea how to use accents on my keyboard :( but to be honest I don't really know them anyway (Στα περισσότερα πληκτρολόγια πατάς πρώτα το ":" που είναι δίπλα στο "λ" και μετά το γράμμα που τονίζεται)
EVEN THOUGH THE PREVIOUS CORRECTION WAS REALLY FINE, I TRIED TO MAKE A FEW IMPROVEMENTS FOR EXTRA OPTIMACY
Με λένε Τζέσικα. Είμαι από την Αμερική, από το Ουισκόνσιν (or you can say "Είμαι από το Ουισκόνσιν της Αμερικής" which literally translates back as "I am from Wisconsin of America/the Americas". You can also just say "Είμαι από το Ουισκόνσιν." Also here you can, perhaps better, say "Γουισκόνσιν" instead; Actually, the name "William", which starts with "Wi-" as well, is more accurately "translated" as either "Γουίλιαμ" or "Ουίλιαμ", from American and British English respectively..) . Τώρα μένω στην Αθήνα, στην Γλυφάδα. Είμαι παντρεμένη, τον άνδρα (or "άντρα" that is a more recent/modern version) μου τον λένε Φώτη. Ο Φώτης είναι από την Αμερική επίσης (Even though still understandable, I am not certain that "είναι επίσης από την Αμερική" is better. I think this is more like "is also from America" and less like "is from America too".), αλλά από την Φλόριδα (can be also Φλόριντα. I would suggest that the first is more transliteration-styled (letter-to-letter) and the latter more transcription-styled (sound-to-sound). Otherwise, in the first case, the pronunciation of "d" would sound more Spanish (..as in the word "Ecuador", or otherwise like "th"). Also note that the word "Canada" "translates" solely in a transliteration-styled way: "Καναδάς"). Έχουμε ένα σκύλο, τον Μπέντζι. Είμαι καθηγήτρια Αγγλικών και δουλεύω ("εργάζομαι" is a more formal synonym. This is linked with en-ergy (εν-έργεια)) στο σπίτι μου (you can also say, perhaps more accurately, "δουλεύω από το σπίτι μου"; i.e. literally translates back as "I work from my home/house").
NOTE: Where you say "ένα σκύλο", it would not be a "big" mistake to say "έναν σκύλο". The same applies to other words of course... My point is simply that, the dropping of "ν" in the first case constitutes an exception to the genaral rule, as a result of aesthetic-based simplification/shortening, so that the word macthes better/more melodically(?) the first letter of the word that follows (ie here "σκύλο")... Accordingly, if you keep writing or pronouncing "ν" before words like this, you will virtually never face a problem of understanding, neither any weird looks from others.. Again, I just say that only because the [exception] rules for dropping the "ν" can be complicated and tricky...
Also some more synonyms:
μένω = stay, stay [at/in]
διαμένω = stay at/in (exclusively for places..)
κατοικώ = reside
ζω = live, live [in]
είμαι = am, am [from]
κατάγομαι = come from (ie denoting ancestral descend/citizenship)
με λένε = they call me (I am called)
ονομάζομαι = I am named/called (formal)
PS I am not a teacher myself. I just make corrections like this to improve my language skills.
PPS Using the "accent mark" on the keybord can be boring, but using "accent marks" in general is quite straightforward... Also, in case you find any comfort to this fact, sentences in uppercase do not have "accent marks" and people understand them (almost all of the times).
