How much do we eat?
Today the Catholic Church celebrates Ash Wednesday. It is the day, when believers have to obey some rules: we can eat only three meals, once we can eat ourselve's fill and twice we must not. Also no meat or alcohol are allowed today. I am eating my breakfast right now- one small sandwich. I know it's late but I overslept today and had no time to do it before my university classes. So I'm eating now. Later I will eat dinner with my boyfriend- this would be my "full" meal, and in the evening I will have supper.
This got me thinking about how much place in one's life food takes. Any other day I would get up and eat at least two sandwiches. Between them and dinner I would have something else, donut for example. Then I would have spaghetti or something else for a dinner and believe me- it would be big portion. In the afternoon I would probably eat some sweets or crisps and finally, in the late evening I would have a big supper. Like two boiled eggs with mayonaise and four slices of bread spread with butter.
We like food. We eat not only not to be hungry. We eat something because we have apetite, we're bored or we simply meet our friend in café, where we order not only coffee, but also a muffin or a cake. We eat out with friends to spend time together. We eat popcorn while watching movies. We are almost constantly chewing something!
I like to eat. I could say that eating is my hobby. But isn't it too much? There are much more important things in my life. Today is a day to stop and think about it. Stop eating time and start spending it in a right way.
If Jesus Christ could die for me, then I definitely can stop eating for a few hours and obey the rules. Even if I would be hungry.

How much do we eat?
Today the Catholic Church observes Wednesday as ASH WEDNESDAY. It is a day when Catholic Faithful have to obey some rules; we have to avoid gross habit like eating more than three square meals a day, Also meat and alcohol are void. I am eating my breakfast right now, a piece of sandwich. I knew it was late but I overslept today and had no time to do it before my university classes. So I'm eating. Later I will eat dinner with my boyfriend- this would be my square meal for the day, and in the evening I will have supper. This got me thinking about the position of food in human existence.
