Tool to help me with Phonetics Hi again, My biggest frustration in Chinese is my phonetics. What is best way to improve it? Can you recommend any books, CDs, Computer programs ? I remember Rosetta Stone German had tool where you can record your voice and compare to original one - and it was actually showing it visually and giving you mark - match or not. Need to check if this exist for Rosetta Stone Chinese. Do you know any tool which evaluate your sound, tone quality?!

there are two systems, and slight variations of them: Ju Ying and Pin Ying. I'd suggest Pin Ying which involves the alphabet and accents for tonality. If you are using Firefox as a browser, there is a great add on called Perapera-kun, use this with their suggested Chinese dictionary and it will give you the pronunciation in Pin Yin and definition of terms you mouse over.
