First let me correct your English.
What is the difference between "bahasa indonesia" and "bahasa melayu"?
Bahasa means language so bahasa indonesia meas Indonesian language and bahasa melayu means Malaysian language.
Basically both are the same language: Malay, however Indnesian Malaysian has been modified and standardized. The Malay language is also spoken in Brunei, Singapore and of course parts of southern Thailand, which borders Malaysia.

There are many different between Indonesia and Melayu, and there are words same but pronunciation and mean are different, like "Kereta" in Melayu (Malaysia) which means car, but in Indonesia also said "kereta" which means train and "mobil" for the car.
Indonesian is formal languange for Indonesian people, but there are some province use Melayu as their local languange, like Sumatra Barat, Lampung, etc. But Melayu in Indonesia, also have a little different with Melayu in Malaysia. Melayu is characteristic of languange for some country in south east, especially for Malaysia. I hope this can help you with my poor english.
