what is the diffence between "advice" and "tip"?

Advice and "a" tip are synonyms. In practical use a tip is usually a pointer, a small correction or light advice. Advice is usually more elaborate. Also the word "tip" is a homonym and has a lot of different definitions, as where advice only has one. A tip: thesaurus.com.
