Like/love Hi! :) Sometimes i use the verbs "to like" or "to love" in some sentences but i don't really know which one would be the best. There is any differences to know, except the fact that "to love" is more intense? There is any situations in which one or the other can't absolutely be used? Because i really do it spontaneously without thinking to it and trying to know if it's right used or not.. Thank you! :)

Regarding feelings towards people: In general, you are correct that "love" expresses a greater intensity of feeling for another person than the word "like" or even the words "like very much." When the feeling becomes so intense and so tender that the other person is as dear to us, or even more dear to us, than we are to ourselves, then "love" would certainly be used. When it comes to objects, we generally use the word "like". ("I like my new iPhone.") However, one can use the word "love" to express an even greater intensity of enjoyment or pleasantness. ("I love my new iPhone.") However, in this case, the word "love" is a hyperbole, and is basically the equivalent of say, "I like my iPhone very much."

love : est plutot utilisé pour l'amour ou une chose qu'on aime profondément que on peut apparenté à "adorer". like : juste plus retenue et le verbe "aimer" (mais sinon ce sont des synonymes)

Matt: Ok thank you i see, it helps me knowing me and seeing it like this! I don't have any sentences in mind but it's more clearly now :) Juan Manuel: Yeah it's not easy sometimes, and even more when we are used to something else! :)

I don't think there's any time where you can only use one. It's just that sometimes using "love" may be too strong (for example when you just meet someone or experience something new). If you could provide some sentences, it'd be easier to see if there are any problems, but it's mainly personal preference.
