For four days, she carried around the remains of Himmel Street on the carpets and floorboards of 8 Grande Strasse.

I would understand this to mean that she had dust, dirt or other debris from Himmel Street attached to the soles of her shoes. So she was carrying these bits and pieces around on her shoes and dropping them gradually over a period of four days as she walked around 8 Grande Strasse.
