Hi - I've just started with mandarin - a question from pimsleur Hi, studying with pimsleur right now, maybe someone can explain to me 2 thing: 1. why would not use have (you) when saying I have enough money? wo tian goule instead of wo you tian goule 2. they say to the listeners something that sound like qing gan zhe shuo and suppose to be please repeat. I couldn't find anything in the dictionary. I think qing is please and shuo is say, does this sound familiar to anyone? they don't break it down to words. xiexieni

First, I'm glad that you want to learn Chinese. Here's the answer. 1.我錢夠(wo tian goule) It's a brief way to say. I suggest you to say 我的錢夠(Wǒ de qián gòu) translate to English directly would be" My money is enough." If you really want to say "I have enough money" it would be like 我有足夠的錢(Wǒ yǒu zúgòu de qián) We don't say "wo you tian goule" , BUT if you say "wo you goule tian" would be better. And people can understand. 2.I don't really understand your question. If you want to say "please repeat" it would be like 請再說一次(Qǐng zàishuō yīcì) Keep going.

1, we say wo (de) qian gou le, also we say wo you zu gou de qian, maybe to buy or to do something. compare these two, wo mai fang de qian gou le. it is like my money for buying a house is enough. and wo you zu gou de qian mai fang. i have enough money for buying a house. 2 it should be qing gen zhe shuo, please follow to speak, to repeat. and sometimes, you may also hear, qing gen wo shuo. please follow me to speak.

I think your pinyin were wrong for both case. In the first question, it's likely "tian" is a different pronunciation, probably "qian". For the second question, it's likely "gan" should be "gen" (跟), then it means "follow", the sentence then translates to "please follow me to speak".
