I prefer to give each digit separately. But then I separate the area code from the rest of the number. So I would say:
Null sieben vier vier zwei (pause) acht acht drei acht acht null. And maybe a short break as in 883 880, as it splits the number into two similar patterns. But this kind of break depends on the number in question.

As far as I know, there is no "correct" way of giving your phone number. So, this would be fine. However, some people would give yours as "Meine Nummer ist null-sieben-vierundvierzig zwo-achtundachtzig-drei-achtundachzig-null"
In reading out numbers, we often pronunce "2" as "zwo" instead of "zwei", because "zwei" and "drei" sound so similar, and "44" as "vierundvierzig" for the same reason you might say "double four".
