One possible answer: Watch movies. Years ago, I had a Chinese science student at polytechnic (= community college in USA I think). His English was ok, but I had to listen to him carefully. After the Summer holidays, he came back for a second year of classes. And his English had improved heaps. Another teacher asked him, "How did you improve so much?." He said that he spent all Summer watching movies!
