I agree that talking to yourself about whatever it is you are doing or thinking about is a good exercise. I sometimes just walk around my apartment and say whatever it is I am doing. It probably looks insane but it also helps me to find what vocabulary I am missing. If you haven't heard of the concept of "language islands" (Boris Shekhtman) I would learn about them and start building and practicing them until they become automatic. You can message me if you want a proper explanation. As far as working on your accent, speed, and intonation you can also listen to dialogues and pretend that you are one of the speakers. This way you can answer questions and use phrases that a native would actually use.

Reading and speaking as much as you can. The more you read, the more your vocabulary will grow. You will find freedom when you know more words, it will make it easier for you to communicate your thoughts.
