Prejudice is an unfair and unreasonable opinion or feeling, especially when formed without enough thought or knowledge. Stereotype is a set idea that people have about what someone or something is like, especially an idea that is wrong. While a stereotype is a thought about a person or group of people, a prejudice relates to feelings and attitudes about that person or group of people. Prejudices are often rooted in the idea that certain types of people are worth less or are less capable than others.

They're both preconceived notions. But a stereotype is specific. A stereotype is strictly a generalization about a group of people. They can be either positive or negative. All stereotypes apply one attribute to every member of a group, ignoring individual differences that lie within. Prejudice is more general. It means dislike for either certain people or groups of people for unfounded opinions and experiences. A person can have a prejudice against, say, a national leader, or against an entire nationality. Crucially, prejudice does not seek to apply any specific generalization about the person/or group of people it targets. And, prejudice is almost always negative because it is unreasonable.

Hello Saif! "stereotype" is a widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of person or thing. It could be used in a sentence like this: "She was the very stereotype of the prim English woman". "prejudice" is an unfair preconceived idea or opinion. It could be used in a sentence like this: "Laws against racial prejudice must be strictly enforced" So "stereotype" means to "categorize" and "prejudice" is an "unfair preconceived idea". I hope that helps!
