I need help in translating this phrase 'swoop in' in the sentence:

Lisa was originally my brother’s wife’s friend but I basically swooped in and our connection was so intense and incredible that her and I are now BFFL (pronounced “biffle”).

BFFL means best friends for life.

I guess it means they made friends easily, but i need to know exactly what the phrase means.Thank you for help. Now I get it.
