I've visited there quite a few times, what exactly do you want to know? Because it's small, it's quite convenient to use public transport. Last visit I avoided the centre and found a nice place on the east coast. You're also relatively safe. But if you visit Chinatown you may be surprised how much English is spoken there! I found some things slightly cheaper, but other things more expensive. if you like going out and drinking, then sorry it's very expensive! Visit Sim Lim tower! Six floors of technology. Plus it's near Little India and all the yummy food there. ^^
