as a native person,i think you should learn it through words not pinyin,pinyin ,in a certain way,only can help you read it.if you want to understand the words or sentense,you should look up the words in the dictionary and weave the sentense together .if you learn chinese in the web,the pinyin can roughly help you read it and the candence is not showed properly.i think the best way to learn chinese is find a chinese person to help you in a convenient way.
