0107 Leadship comes from naturally? There are different standpoints regarding the leadership comes naturally or by nurture, some argue that many ability of human are inherited which is curved into your genes while others hold an opposite view that human can attain many excellent characters by nurture. In fact, it is a complex problem which can not be simply judged by based on either side, and up to its specific context. Firstly, leadership is hugely related to one's personality, which is effected by the inherited genes and the environment he/she was raised up. To be a leader, you need to be open-minded, judicious and ambitious, however, unfortunately there is no such a textbook or a developed theory can help you obtain aforementioned elements. These discrepancies are come from your background, the people you are familiar with and the stories you went through, and it is hard to compensate by the acquired learning. On the other hand, if we make an effort in some way, we still have the chance to be a good leader. Like the important trait I've mentioned -- confidence, one's confidence is heavily rely on his/her ability of work. For example, assuming that you are competing in an important contest, if you have prepared a lot and stay ready, you won’t feel overwhelmed. And this confidence is original from your previous efforts, from your great mastery of the professional knowledge, which can be achieved in the process of learning. In addition, there are still many other crucial factors that make you qualified as a good leader, for instance, politeness. A good leader would never treat his/her employees rudely, and he/she would take care of every tiny detail during the conserve with others in an attempt to make others feel comfortable. That is a big reason why he/she could win the trust of colleagues and be appointed as a leader, and the politeness actually could be cultivated through our efforts. All in all, judging from what I’ve mentioned above, I think I need to reinforce my personal perspective that leadership is influenced by many factors, and it is difficult to say if this ability is instinctive or learnt.

0106 Independent writing about diversified lifestyle Q:[workers are more satisfied when they have many different types of task to do during the workday than when they do similar tasks all day long. Use specific reasons and examples to support your asewer.] If there is a job in which you just need to repeat a simple movement all day long, and another job in which you can accomplish many different types of tasks during your worktime, which one would you chose? I think most of us would vote for the second one. It reveals that diversity can maintain our interests and keep a system stable. In our daily life, all of us have ever been in such a situation that when driving on the highway, looking at the invariable passing scene through the window, it won't take too long time that you can't help feeling drowsy and asleep. Similarly, when you are required to do something monotonously and repeatedly, you will lose your patience and interests quickly. That's a part of reasons why the universities provide so many different curriculums for the students to select based on their personal wills. The diversity of work and lifestyle can make us fill more motivation to achieve the goal, and keep a balanced mind to deal with all kinds of problem that we may encounter during the process. In addition, the diversity is the key for a system to keep stable. We all learned from the biology textbooks that the more complex a bio-system possess, the more species the bio-system can sustain, and the more stable the system would be. In other words, diversified is very crucial for a system to operate smoothly and lastingly, so do the human lifestyles. If there is only one task need you to do from Monday to Sunday, this kind of lifestyle are quite unstable and easily be changed by an external pressure. All in all, judging from what I’ve mentioned above, I think I need to reinforce my personal perspective that diversity can maintain our interests and keep a system stable.

01/03 The famous entertainers and athletes deserve more privacy than they have now? With the increasing demand for a higher live quality, when people don't need to worry about how to fill the stomach, they start to purse something interesting, like art and sports. In other words, modern people put more and more attention to the art work and sports games, which sometimes also leads an excessive focus the entertaining star and athletes, who crate the enjoyment for us. Many ardent fans are so obsessed in collect all the information about these star, in and out the performing stage, that every little behavior of the star is captured precisely by these crazy groups. However, I don't think it's a good social phenomenon and the famous entertainers and athletes deserve more private time and space. Firstly, although these entertaining stars and athletes are all public figures living under the spot light, which means they would obtain more attention from the public, no doubt, they have another identification, human, as well. Every human can's escape from the natural rule, and he/she has his/her own personal physical and spiritual requirement. Human need to eat to infuse the energy to maintain their basic daily activity, they would laugh when they meet some amusing and want a comfort when they encounter something frustrating, too. And thus, these public figures also need some privacy, like us do. We are supposed to understand everyone possesses an excluding world, not just the way as you look initially, and it definitely need our respect. Moreover, there is no doubt that a relatively free private life can bring more vigor to these public figures, and make them more ease to cope with the coming challenge and have a better performance on the stage or the game. For example, Jay Zhou, a famous Taiwanese pop star, like playing basketball during his spare time, and he once said that playing basketball is one of his lifestyle, and every time playing basketball he feels very excited and content, this private hobby also brings him a lot of inspiration in the process of musical creation. So if we want to see more excellent performance of these stars, just leave them more private space! All in all, judging from what we’ve mentioned, I think I need to reinforce my perspective that nowadays the famous entertainers and athletes deserve more privacy than they have now.

12/30 comparative writing The reading passage listed three pieces of potential reasons in an attempt to explain what caused the Little Ice Age, however, the speaker didn't agree with these arguments and rebuted them with his own opinion. Firstly, the reading material noted that the large amount of cold freshwater melted from former glaciers had disrupted the Gulf Stream, which resulted in the cooling climate. In contrast, the lecture in the listening argued that the cooling effect would only occured in the North region, like Europe and North America,if the hypothesis of ocean currents indeed validated, but it actually happened in some other parts on the earth, like New Zealand and South Africa, too. Moreover, the author of the reading stated that volcanic eruption could be the cause since the large amount of dark clouds of dust would cover a huge area and block the sunlight, which decrease the temperatures ultimately. On the contrary, the listening rebuted the statement by pointing out that if it did happen in such a huge extension there must be someone noticed the unusual phenomenon, for example the grey or brown snow, and recorded it. Unfortunately no such document was found yet, and thus, the theory seemed not so reliable. Furthermore, the passage asserted that the decline of human population may contribute to the cooling of the climate because the expanded forest would absorb more carbon dioxide and decrease the green house effect. Likewise, the listening holded a opposed view that there was no such long time for the extreme low global temperatures to keep, since the human population could be recoved fquickly and the trees would be cut down soon after that.

do the parents get more involved in their children's education nowadays? Never before in the history has the problem of education been such salient than today. The rapid development of the society requires more and more talents, who possess good educational background, and it also stimulates students to work hard and step into an upper platform. Some people may ask nowadays if the parents get more and more involved in their children's education, in my opinion, the answer is negative for two main reasons. First of all, the huge pressure produced by the fierce competition of society force the parents devote more energy and time into the work, which means sometime they may need to work overtime and come back home very late. They are so tired after a long period tense and stressful work that need a personal time and space to recover, let alone wish they would have time to care about their children's homework. In the way, the children may turn to their teachers and classmates for help if they meet some difficulties in study, and parents could only offer little assistance for that. In a more extreme condition, due to a bunch of reasons some parents may need work in another place which is far away from their kids, and they would be less involved in their children's education like before. Moreover, In the past, there were only limited ways for children to study, and parents played a crucial role at that time. But worldwide internet use enables the children to have more opportunities to get in touch with the outside world. They could get access to a great amount of information, which do good to study by themselves. Surfing the internet, clicking on the mouse, and then the countless study material will display on the computer screen within seconds, which replaces a part of functions of their parents. Admittedly, nowadays the education level that parents obtained has been improved a lot compared to the past, and Theoretically they could provide more practical help for their children in education. However, busy work and modern technique push them away from it subjectively and objectively. On the other hand, for the children the process of learning is becoming more and more independent, and they could make their own choices in some educational problems like university selection and major preference. Judging from what I’ve mentioned above, I should reinforce my perspective that nowadays the parents get less involved in their children's education.

12/26 comparision writing In the reading passage, the author provides three piece of strong evidence attempting to prove that Robert E. Pearty have indeed reached the North Pole in 1909, However, the speaker holds a contradictory view and explains her personal reasons. Firstly, in the passage, it is said that, according to Peary's records and equipment the National Geographic Society have decleared Peary's North Pole trip was real. But the speaker mentioned that the material was actually form one of Peary's friend, who has supported the adventurer and the committee didn't examinate the record carefully enough, so the declare was not objective and convincing. Secondly, the passage tries to respond the question about the authenciticy using the experience of another explorer named Tom Avery, who has reached the North Pole using the same trek from the same startpoint but taken less time than Peary. On the other hand, the lecturer disagrees with it and points out that the two piece of experience are uncomparable, since Tom Avery's trek didn't need to transport food and explored in a more favorable weather condition. Finally, the author of the passage believes that the photographs taken by Peary can substantiate his claim to have reached the North Pole. To render the disproof, the lecturer reveals that the Surf's position was determined by measuring shadows in the photographs, but the photos Peary offered were unfocus and blured, through which we definitely couldn't get a precise result.

12/22 diary Strictly, this short passage could not be regarded as a diary, but just a general description of my recent performance. In the recent weeks, I always could not concentrate on the tasks at hand. It seems like something has blocked my thoughts, and I just sit there doing nothing and staring blankly. Some unrealistic imagination came into my mind, drived me to somewhere filling with fictional scenes.(YES, I AM MISSING A GIRL) My boss asked me to write a report about his fundation program, and conclude what I've done in the past few week in the morning. However, unfortunately I did little, so now the problem is, I don't know how to fill this report, and how to satisfy my boss without lying. 2018 will be over soon, but at this moment it seems that all the troubles piled up and I even couldn't make a breath. I wish I could recover as soon as possible, and then solve the problems one by one.

12/18 say something This morning I studied English in the library as usual. Finishing a listening section, I didn't feel very good beacause my earphone was a little tight and the mark was not so satisfactory (21/30). Then I realized that today there was a game between Houston Rockets and Utah Jazz, so I watched this game from the 3rd courter on my computer. The game was so exciting and tense that the two sides leaded alternatively, and thank god finally Rockets won. James Harden was so excellent in this game and his hot streak ignited Rockets, having 47 points, 5 assitants, 6 rebounds and 5 steals, worthy a title of MVP! I LOVE THIS GAME!

diary Actually, I haven't made up my idea what I gonna to say, so let me just simply review my recent condition~ Now when typing these words into the computer, I was sitting in the library and trying to form the language, which I 've learned almost 11 years. I like to go to the library to study English in the morning, unlike my lab, there is no one would talk to me and interfere with my schedule unexpectedly, so that I can concentrate on the task at hand and achieve my goal as planned. While I was attempting to describe the advantage of the library to you, here comes a beautiful girl sitting on the opposite of my desk (there is still a aisle between us). I think it could be included in the reasons why I like the library: you can see different people in the library everyday, which could give you a sense of fresh, and at the same time, pretty girls would make you feel good at the beginning of the day. On the other hand, I think I need to accelerate the speed of constructing the story and typing. Because if we keep this slow pace, I will definitely fail the TOEFL test in the coming January.

yesterday Rencently my iPhone‘s battery life has been getting worse, so I went to the Apple Store in Nanjing Road, Shanghai, for battery replacement yesterday. To my surprise, I was thinking that it would only cost 2 or 3 hours to replace the battery, but the stuff told me to pick up my iPhone after 8pm when I got there at 1pm. Oh my god, so I spent 7 hours in downtown without any electronic product alone. To be frank, I felt a little worried because I have no one to share, and I had to keep asking the strangers to determine what time it was. Luckily I took some cash with me, otherwise I would have starved in the worst condition, you know the frequency of people using cash are becoming lower and lower in big cities of China. While waiting for the accompliment of repair, I went to the museum and visited a exhibtion of Pathway to the American Contemporary Art (1865--1945), which was jointly sponsored by Art Institute of Chicago, Terra Foundation for American Art and Shanghai Museum. There were so many fascinating painting art displayed in the hall, and I was totally enchanted in the beautiful colors and sophisticated brush strokes, reluctant to move my footsteps. James McNeill Whistler, John Singer Sargent, they are both well-known artists, and I never dreamed I would have an opportunity to appreciate their master-pieces so closely one day! Besides, through this exhibition I also got to know another excellent painter named Edward Hopper, whose “Nighthawks” was my favorite painting yesterday. All in all, despite the exhaustion physically, I still felt very fulfill spritually.
