Ruka Chang

Ruka is an incredibly kind and patient tutor, and learning with her has been a really positive experience! She delivers a wide range of lesson styles and tailors each one to my personal goals, which has made a huge difference for me. When I first started, I could only put together a few basic sentences, but now I’m able to have long, structured conversations on a variety of topics. Ruka always comes prepared with something interesting to discuss, whether it’s history, culture, interesting stories, or recent events; the lessons are never boring!

I've worked with Ruka for over a year and she has been very helpful. People often express surprise at my Chinese level, but people who know me have also noted that it continues to improve. That's because I have a secret weapon! Ruka has been consistently reliable and helpful, which is why I would recommend her lesson to anybody, whether you're a total beginner or more advanced.

Ruka is the best! I came to her with a very interesting issue, where I needed to learn a script in a very short time, and she helped me practice and even offered to record audio for me. Ruka goes the extra mile to help her students!

Whether you are looking to start learning Chinese or pick it back up, I would highly recommend Ruka (in fact, I can’t recommend her enough). I’ve been learning with Ruka for over two years now and it’s been an amazing and fulfilling journey so far; Ruka is a kind, patient, and passionate teacher who goes above and beyond to help you with your language goals. Her class structure is versatile and she can mold it to suit both your language goals and learning style. For example, when I was focusing on improving my speaking, classes would mostly be us having casual conversations which helped with my listening ability, fluency of my speech (less choppy and more natural sounding), and more importantly, my confidence. If I didn’t have any specific topics in mind to talk about that day, Ruka would always have a topic prepared. My family all have noticed (and praised) my improvements, and the best part is I can now confidently hold long conversations with family, relatives, and friends.

Really enjoy her lessons. Lessons are so seamless, class is over by the time I realize it!

Ruka is a very adaptable teacher. I had a method I already preferred, and she was able to work within that space, while bringing her own ideas to each session. She is a very fun and engaging conversation partner, and is very patient. I find I can make mistakes, correct myself, and keep the conversation moving because she creates a very comfortable environment.
