I was born in Istanbul in 1983. I started teaching Turkish while studying Turkish Language and Literature at university. I worked in a language school and at universities, and I suppose I gained success. 😀 I have been teaching Turkish professionally for more than 15 years. I also taught Turkish for 4 years when I was a university student.
Learning a new language opens a new window into a person; teaching Turkish is the same for me. As I build stronger relationships with my students, I notice their engagement with the Turkish language deepens.
I speak English and a bit of Italian, and I have also studied Persian and German grammar. I am interested in literature.Tôi với tư cách là giáo viên
I hold firmly to two main principles: creating a comfortable space for learning and building an encouraging atmosphere.
My students often describe me as patient, positive, and well-organised. Over time, I’ve found my own way of making Turkish feel easier, more enjoyable, and more practical to learn.
I love shaping each lesson around my students’ interests, needs, and learning styles. I also offer awareness-based lessons for students with special conditions, such as ADHD and OCD.
In my lessons, you’ll never feel afraid of making mistakes. Before long, you’ll start noticing them on your own and correcting yourself naturally. Phong cách dạy & bài học của tôi
Even though I use a communicative approach, my lessons are supported by a solid understanding of grammar, as Turkish has a very different structure.
I use the course book set prepared by Istanbul University. It follows a strategic approach to learning Turkish and includes all language skills—reading, grammar, writing, listening, watching, and speaking—from A1 to C2. All of these skills are essential for conversation.
The workbook offers many exercises for homework or revision, and I support the book with my own authentic materials. I've been learning Turkish to better communicate with my fiancé's family, and I highly recommend Başak as a teacher. I had tried with other methods earlier but didn't make much progress speaking and communicating. Başak is fantastic at identifying my areas for improvement and tailoring lessons to fit my specific goals. Her approach is personalized and attentive, making each session productive and enjoyable.

Başak is a fantastic teacher to my 7yr old daughter who is trilingual (English, Dutch and now Turkish). I am Turkish and it’s really impressive to see how well her diction as well as vocabulary have increased in such a short amount of time. She even creates sentences on her own now and it’s such a delight to observe.
Başak is also a wonderful person to interact with and she’s just so good with my daughter. I highly recommend her to anyone, young and old trying to learn Turkish!

I really enjoyed my first lesson with Başak. She was very friendly, patient, and kind even when I struggled or made mistakes. I felt like I learned more in this one lesson than I have in multiple lessons with other tutors. I look forward to future lessons!

I've really enjoyed my lessons with Basak. Her teaching style is really intuitive and she does a really good job breaking things down. She's also very kind, personable and patient which helps contribute to a fruitful learning environment. I would highly recommend her.

The lessons with Başak are truly great. I am very happy that I found her as my teacher. She is a very patient, nice and empathic teacher, who encourage me to speak and learn. Her lessons are well structured and understandable. We use a book, which is helpful. She always does little adaptions of the lessons in the books and making sure that I practice in my own words. She gives homework to ensure, that I keep learning. I think she is truly a great teacher that I can only recommend to everyone.
