A bay is a large basin of the sea where the property curls inwards whereas the beach is a landform along the coast of a water body. This is the main difference between bay and beach.

Words used at the beach and their meanings

If the water level is rising it is referred to as a high tide and if the water level is low, you would refer to it as a low tide. The rising and falling of tides is caused by the pulling of the sun and the moon on the earth.

Current is used to describe the way that the water moves. When you are at the beach you might hear someone talk about the ocean’s current. The person is simply talking about the direction in which the water is moving.

Another word that ties in with the current is the undertow. It refers to the current of the water below the surface of the water, moving in a different direction from the current on the surface.

A lifeguard is a person who works at the beach. The lifeguard’s job is to ensure that people are safe, especially those out swimming. They sit on a high stand at the beach.
