It was sunny today, not a single cloud in the sky. I ended up binge-watching Emily in Paris Season 2 all day. Ugh, that love triangle with Emily, Gabriel, and Camille was a total mess. Seriously, Gabriel’s the worst, how dare he hit on his girlfriend’s bestie? And Emily’s no angel either. I mean, you can’t say you "don’t wanna ruin anyone’s life" while making out with Camille’s hot hot boyfriend, Gabriel in a closet. Now two girls are practically at war? So messy. The whole season’s like a car crash: awful but you can’t look away. Feels kinda morally gross, but also weirdly innocent? Like they’re all just cluelessly setting fires everywhere. Anyway, I’m officially addicted. There’s something evil about how much I love watching these disasters unfold. Pure chaos. Fun!

Today I woke up earlier than usual on weekends and went to the central park of my city. I had arranged to meet an acquaintance to pick up a guidebook I bought. I hadn't been on this park in a long time. It was refreshing. I walked along my old route, and as expected, some memories came back to me. I looked around for changes, but everything seemed the same: the same unpainted building on the corner, a house-turned-bookstore full of shelves, and the same chilly wind. It was midday on a sunny day, so I hid behind a tree and waited for quite a while. The wind, as always, reminded me of my beloved “desert” city, a place of contradiction, where the heat scorches and the cold bites.

It was overcast today. We did some study about circuits in science. Good thing we already had that science kit, so we had everything to build both series and parallel setups. Easy peasy. It's kinda like just hooking everything up in one loop, or putting a few loops side-by-side. When I was later doing this hands-on part, though, I got a little mischievous. Dad had told me never to create a short circuit, but that only made me more curious. So, I pretended not to know better and deliberately made one. I have to admit it didn’t live up to my hype. I mean, I was expecting dramatic scenes like visible sparks or surging arc. Instead, I did feel the wires heat up a bit, and this little wisp of smoke curled out from the battery pack. Dad wasn't happy and he gave me an earful, anyway, I was thrilled. Made for a pretty interesting day!

There were a cute butterfly, a cat and other pictures. I was curious and tried to communicate with him. He was from Spain with his friends. They were traveling in China. He loves tattoos and made all the tattoos in eleven years. Tattoo is not common in China. If you have many visible tattoos on your body, people think you are not a decent person and you don't have a chance to get a position in a big company or government. 这周我在张家界旅游时，看到一个外国人的腿上有很多纹身。有一只可爱的蝴蝶，一只猫和其他图案。我很好奇，并试图和他交流。他和他的朋友来自西班牙。他们在中国旅行。他喜欢纹身，在11年内完成了所有纹身。 纹身在中国并不常见。如果你身上有很多可见的纹身，人们会认为你是一个不正经的人，你没有机会在大公司或政府部门工作。

My teammate asked me today if something was wrong as I was too quiet. I told her the truth, nothing was wrong. Her question took me by surprise, although she insisted and I replied the same as it was - it is fine. On the walk back home, I kept thinking about it. Maybe it was the dull weather, or maybe it was just one of those days when I didn’t feel like talking too much. A day for wandering in solitude. Maybe this quiet day just didn’t match the way I usually engage with her.
