Olá Bárbara, ingin is more formal than mau, but the meaning are same, which is "to want (something)". There are even more words with the same meaning such as "hendak" (very formal and rarely used in daily conversation) and "pengen" (informal form of "ingin").

Ingin (formal) dan mau (casual). As an Indonesian, I prefer using “mau”.
