Let's say there's a woman who is very insecure about her appearance and generally very unhappy with it, so much so that she let's her dissatisfaction with her appearance limit her in every imaginable way.
Is it natural to use discard and impetus in this sentence?:
After having had plastic surgery, she felt like the surgery not only helped her discard her insecurities but it also gave a much needed impetus to her desire to try new things instead of just staying in her comfort zone.
