Ready to learn Chinese? Let’s start with Pinyin. What is Pinyin? Pīnyīn (拼音) literally means "spelled sounds", but it is the official Romanization system for Mandarin Chinese. The system includes four tones. In this course, you will get enough practices and correction. After taking this course, you should be able to read Pinyin with correct pronunciation, which is essential for further progress in Mandarin Chinese. Interesting activities, practices and correction will be done in the course. So don’t hesitate, let’s start right now!

Let’s Start! - Pinyin Course (Beginner level)

I will design the courses based on your goals and interests. 

Survival Chinese:
 The focus of this course is to help you communicate in Chinese in daily life. All the learning materials I prepare for you are something you really will use in life if you are in China. Topics such as how to ask for directions, how to open a bank account, how to order food in restaurant, sign a house release, will be covered in this course. Since it’s a tailored course, I encourage you to tell me the topics you want to learn before we start so that I can prepare on the vocabulary, grammar, sentence structures and practice activities.  

Traveling Chinese: 
If you plan to travel around China without an English-speaking tour guide, it’s necessary for you to know some Chinese in such situations: check in/out in hotel, exchange money, bargain, buy train tickets, ect. All the situations which will happen during your traveling will be the topics we are going to learn. Pronunciation correction and conversational practices will be done in the course.

Chinese Literature:
According to your Chinese language proficiency, interests and goals, I will assign
you different reading homework along with supplementary materials such as
 vocabulary lists, reading guides and comprehension questions. I will use the class 
time to answer your questions, guide you through difficult points and have
discussions with you.

Learning Chinese through TV Shows/Movies: 
Learning Chinese is not boring at all if you learn it through TV Shows or movies. The TV Shows or movies along with supplementary learning materials such as list of key vocabulary, common sentence structures used in the TV shows or movies, questions or topics we are going to discuss, will be sent to you before course starts.I will use the class time to answer your questions, guide you through difficult points and have discussions with you.

Tailored Chinese Course (all levels)

These test- prep courses will help to guide you through the process of preparing for Chinese test: making vocabulary list, taking notes on important grammar points, analysis of the test paper, specific test taking strategies and most importantly practice to improve all needed skills through focused activities. I will provide you with practice tests and exercises as needed.

Chinese Test Preparation-HSK 1-6, AP, IB abinitio, IB-B, IB-A, HSKK, ACTFL

This course is designed for those who especially want to improve their Chinese speaking and listening. For the conversational practice I will prepare a lot of topics beforehand and you can pick one or several topics you would like to talk about. I will also send you vocabulary list and sentence structures which closely related to the topics you choose. While you are talking in the course, I will listen carefully and not only respond to you but also correct you in a way that does not interrupt your train of thought. For speech or interview practice, I will focus on improving your pronunciation and fluency and giving you useful tips for speeches or interviews.

Book Club-Advanced

To evaluate whether the candidate is qualified for serving as an International Chinese Language Teacher, this examination assesses the following five standard abilities: Basics of Chinese Language Teaching, Chinese Language Teaching Methodology, Instructional Design and Classroom Management, Chinese Culture and Intercultural Communication, Professional Ethics and Disciplinary Development.

To get this certificate, I need to complete the training of practical Chinese classroom teaching, Projects of Traditional Chinese Culture such as learning Taichi, Chinese painting, calligraphy and one  of Chinese traditional instruments, intercultural communication, etc.

English  Linguistics, English language and literature, Translation and Interpretation, America and Britain Studies, Creative writing

Second Language Acquisition, Intercultural Communication, Chinese Linguistics

Teaching Chinese literature and culture to native Chinese speakers in a high school and help to create the Chinese curriculum for the school.

Teaching English to the students of the international department of the school and help them to be ready to study abroad.

Teaching elementary level Chinese to French college students, help them to understand and experience Chinese culture and help some of them to prepare HSK.

Teaching intermediate level Chinese to American High School Students, help them understand and experience Chinese culture and help some of them prepare IB Chinese B Standard Level.

Implement IB curriculum by teaching Mandarin ab initio, Mandarin B High Level and Standard Level and TOK classes and conducting assessments both to DP1 and DP2 students
