This is more than a typical drawing class.

Learning to draw uses the same core skills needed to learn a new language: careful observation, patience, tolerance for mistakes, and the ability to stay present instead of overthinking. When you train these skills through drawing, they also support language learning.

I’ve been teaching drawing for over 15 years, and I’ve seen how learning to draw helps people become better observers, think more creatively, and feel freer experimenting—skills that make learning new languages easier and more enjoyable.

I was in charge of hiring of new foreign teachers as well as networking with local consulates and representing the school locally when the Superintendent was not available. I also taught part time in the International Baccalaureate program (in English as this was an international school).

At both The American School of Puebla and the Faculty of Art and Architecture at Rajamangala University, I held two distinct positions: professor and Head of International Affairs. In addition to my academic responsibilities, I managed the institutions' international relations and international hiring operations. As Assistant to the Superintendent at the school and to the Dean at the university faculty, I coordinated with foreign dignitaries and handled a range of administrative tasks.

I taught Daily and Business English to a variety of levels of Chinese students using Hujiang's proprietary online platform. This prepared me uniquely to continue to teach online with italki.

I taught all art classes and a several social studies classes. I also ran the theatre department and other after-school clubs, as well as establishing the Model United Nations Program in the school. This taught me to be an flexible teacher, able to cope with many different situations which in turn makes me uniquely adept at teaching all levels of ESL students (as all of our students were second language learners).

Design and teach my own fine arts curriculum for 11-14 year olds at one of the best international schools in Asia.
