In this trial lesson, we will go over both your expectations and my style of teaching to see if we can work together in order to reach your goals! 30 minutes is the perfect amount of time for us both to have a feel for each other and understand what we could do together!

Let's practise the differences between present simple and present continuous! We will look at how and when to use the 2 different tenses with some simple exercises for practice. Ideal for first-time learners or students that need to refresh this grammar point.

Past simple vs. past continuous: the student learns the main differences between the two, understands how to use the grammar, and then practises using it! There is also an emphasis on recognising which one is correct in any given context. What's more, there is a review (if needed) on the use of the prepositions 'when' and 'while', and how to use them together with past simple/continuous.

Together, we will look at what present perfect is and how to use it in the correct context! This grammatical tense is often confused by L2 students, so it needs to be understood. Once we have gone over the grammar and functions of present perfect, the student can then write examples of their own! Other exercises include: understanding the differences between present perfect and past simple, identifying when to use present perfect and past simple, and how to use present perfect and past simple together; this includes in positive/negative sentences and question form.

Whether you've studied these before, or if it's your first time looking at the 4 English conditionals, no problem! Together we will look through them an understand how and when to use them in the right context! Not only this, but we will have an in-depth look at the grammatical structures with specific board work that you can use to take your time and understand (this is the most important thing!). When we are happy with the grammar, we will then do some examples and exercises together for further understanding. Once you have learnt the conditionals, your English will never be the same again!

English is famously difficult at times with its non-phonetic pronunciation. That doesn't have to be an obstacle for you, though! In the time we spend together, we will look at some important pronunciations of very basic things, such as UK vs. USA pronunciation, common mispronunciations, confusing word endings and how to say them (-ough endings, for example), tricky silent letters and how to identify them, and much, much more! With the right guidance, you will have more confidence in your ability to speak everyday English words, and, in time, you'll use your spoken English to better effect, too!

English language - speaking: pronunciation practice

My students often feel frustrated when they have a 'mind blank moment' and either can't remember a word, or don't know a certain form of a word. This session is designed to help you build your vocabulary some more so that you don't feel embarrassed or annoyed when speaking. English has an incredibly rich range of vocabulary, so let's look together at what I like to call 'language family trees' - what does that mean? It's looking at how verbs, nouns, adjectives and adverbs are all connected. This also means that you will build your vocabulary by associating these words. We can also look at common prefixes and suffixes, as well as tricky irregular verbs with strange 2nd and 3rd forms! In short, your vocabulary will grow and give you more confidence with your English, it doesn't matter if you're beginner, intermediate, or advanced: words mean confidence!

English language - vocabulary building

This was a 20-hour, classroom-based course in which applicants were required to attend a weekend-long workshop to learn and therefore pass the course based on the work submitted during the course.

Also obtained in Brisbane, Australia; this was the equivalent course to the classroom-based one. We the applicants were required to study online for 120 hours in total, then to complete an extensive online exam based on what we had learnt.

I started back in early 2017 as a raw and recently qualified teacher for this Italian company; it was a good learning curve for me as it helped me to realise a lot of my potential for working with people (both individually or in groups). I spent 3.5 years here in total, finishing in December 2020 to find a new challenge for myself. During this time, I was nominated for best teacher across Italy in both 2017 and 2018; I was finally voted the best teacher in Italy in 2019.

I started working for this company in early 2021 in challenging circumstances as the global pandemic had changed the way in which we taught and worked. All of my work with this company was done online, and I worked with over 40 different students in that time. I worked with many businesspeople, important members of the Polish Chancellery, company owners, as well as normal, day-to-day people like me who simply needed to work on their fledgling English! A good, character-building experience!

I had previously collaborated with this company before becoming a full-time member of the team at the beginning of 2022 after the boss sought me out. As with my last job before this one, my role consists of working with all kinds of people in order to facilitate further English learning, be it through grammar learning/refreshing, vocabulary building, conversational practice, or whatever else is needed. So far, I've worked with medical professionals, business owners, and many employees, too.
